The ongoing alleged larceny case involving Ibrahim Conteh, a 22 year old welder was again arraigned before Magistrate Adama Kandeh of Pademba Road Court No.4 on Tuesday, 28th October, 2025, on a count charge of larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused on Thursday 2nd October, 2025, at Mortgage, Bathurst village, Gloucester Saddle, Freetown, in the western area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, did steal six (6) RAM sheep each valued eight thousand leones (NLe8,000) all valued forty-eight thousand leones (NLe48,000), property of Sahr Pessima.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant he pleaded guilty.
The Prosecutor Inspector A. T. Bangura led in prosecution witness number two, Bismerall Brewah 13820 attached to the Criminal Investigations Hilltop Police Station and 5th October, 2025, was on duty when the complainant reported a crime that the defendant stole six of his male sheep each values NLe8,000 and obtained statement from the complainant.
Brewah stated that he obtained statement from the defendant in Krio and recorded it in English and read it over to him in Krio which he admitted to be true and correct by affixing his right hand thumbprint and he signed as the recorder, witnessed by Inspector Dumbuya, adding that, the statement was in police custody which was produced and tendered marked as exhibit A1-4.
He furthered that on the 6th October, 2025, himself and another police officer conducted a search warrant to Kissy Old Road where he claimed the sheep where, but they couldn’t find them and charged him for larceny.
Brewah noted that he obtained his caution statement in Krio and recorded it in English and read it over to him in Krio which he admitted to be true and correct by affixing his right hand thumbprint witnessed by Inspector Dumbuya which was produced and tendered and marked as exhibit B1-3.
The defendant was not legally represented.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kandeh withdrew the file for ruling and sent the defendant on remand at the male correctional center in Freetown.
The case has been adjourned to the 11th November, 2025, for ruling.
